Hawthorne Community Rallies Around Family After New Father Dies Paulie Packes was only 9 days old when his father, Anthony, a Stamford resident who grew up in Hawthorne, died of a brain tumor at the age of 36. A GoFundMe page has been launched for the Packes family. As of Friday morning, the page has raised $51,565 in four days from 325 people. Anthony was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2015. The tumor was surgically removed, and he was given a clean bill of health. He married Toni in October 2016, but his brain tumor returned last June. Croton Man Drove Drunk, Left Scene Of Crash, Yorktown Police Say A 38-year-old Northern Westchester man was charged with two DWIs after Yorktown Police say he fled the scene of a car crash on Crow Hill Road near the Mount Kisco border on Monday afternoon. Victor Melchor of Croton was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated with blood-alcohol content of .18 percent or more, both misdemeanors and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a traffic infraction. Cause Determined For Fire At Clinton Chappaqua Compound The fire at the Northern Westchester compound of former President Bill Clinton and 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Tuesday was the result of a bathroom fan shorting out, according to New Castle Supervisor Rob Greenstein. The fire occurred in a facility for Secret Service at the property on Old House Lane in Chappaqua. The fan shorting out burned a hole in the bathroom ceiling, Greenstein said. Spano Drops Out Of Senate Race YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano will not be running for state senate. Spano, a Democrat, who announced his candidacy last month to represent the 37th district in the seat left vacant by George Latimer's ascension to Westchester County Executive, dropped out of the race Thursday. Man Charged With Felony DWI After Crash Near Roma Building A 57-year-old Ossining man was charged with felony DWI following a car accident on Saw Mill River Road in Yorktown Tuesday.
