Drunk Driver Hits Utility Pole, Tree In Suffolk County Wreck: Police
A drunk driver wrecked his car into a utility pole on Long Island early Thursday, Aug. 6, police said.
Franklyn Carpio Garcia, 27, of Southampton, was driving at the intersection of Noyack Road and Water Mill Towd Road around 12:06 a.m., the Southampton Town Police Department said.
Carpio Garcia’s vehicle left the road, striking a utility pole and a tree before coming to rest, investigators said. However, Carpio Garcia was not injured, according to police.

A drunk driver on Long Island slammed his car into a liquor store around 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, police said.
Matthew Meyran, 66, of Port Washington, drove through the front window of Black Tie Wine & Spirits at 112 Shore Road in Manorhaven, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Meyran’s gray Mercedes-Benz SUV went partially through the window, smashing the vehicle’s front end and causing significant damage inside the store, according to photos shared by the Port Washington Fire Department.

A Long Island man impersonated a police officer at least four times to get out of traffic tickets, police said.
Peterson Jules, 40, of East Patchogue, was arraigned Wednesday, Aug. 5 on four counts of second-degree criminal impersonation, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Jules used to work as a Special Officer with New York City Health and Hospitals, but he was terminated in April 2022, authorities said.
However, four times between February and June 2026, Jules was pulled over for traffic stops by Suffolk County Police in Medford and Patchogue, investigators said.

Sydney Towle, a New England-born TikToker who has been documenting her battle with a rare cancer for three years, has died. She was 26 years old.
