NJ Man Shot Dead By NY State Trooper ‘Would Give You The Shirt Off His Back,’ Friends Say
A New Jersey man shot dead by New York State Police will be remembered at services Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19, according to his loved ones.
Amir Hamza, 45, of Ridgewood, NJ, was killed Monday, Sept. 14 at Whip-o-Will Campground in Ulster County, NY, authorities said.
A funeral prayer for Hamza will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Islamic Center of Passaic County in Paterson, according to a Facebook post from Mahmoud Hamza. A burial at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton will follow.

A man is accused of smashing his way into a Sullivan County deli with a hatchet before stealing cash and a religious statue, police said.
Monticello resident Skyler J. Madura, 32, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 15, in connection with the burglary at Memito’s Tacos and Deli at 493 Broadway, according to the Village of Monticello Police Department.

A dying father begged his son for mercy while being stabbed to death on Long Island, authorities said Thursday, Sept. 17.
Sage Arias-Brown, 33, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was indicted Thursday on a second-degree murder charge in the death of his 69-year-old father, Edward Brown, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
