Rep. Lawler Condemns Trump's Rob Reiner Post: 'This Statement Is Wrong'
Rep. Mike Lawler, R-NY, is speaking out after President Donald Trump blamed the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife on "Trump Derangement Syndrome."
"This statement is wrong," Lawler, who represents New York's 17th congressional district, which covers Rockland County, Putnam County and parts of Westchester and Dutchess counties, said on social media.
"Regardless of one’s political views, no one should be subjected to violence, let alone at the hands of their own son," Lawler said. "It’s a horrible tragedy that should engender sympathy and compassion from everyone in our country, period."

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman has officially launched his campaign for New York governor, setting up a high-profile Republican primary fight with Rep. Elise Stefanik.
