McLean Man Sentenced To 3 Years In $1.6M In Fraud Scheme: Feds A 33-year-old McLean man was sentenced to three years in prison earlier this month for his role in a five-year scam that bilked more than 1,300 people — mostly elderly — out of $1.6 million, the Department of Justice said.  A court ruled that Bruhaspaty Prasad, 33, worked with scam artists based at a call center in India to steal money from unsuspecting victims, a U.S. Attorney said in a news release.  Their alleged grift is one that anyone online has likely come across in recent years.  In the scam, victims would get an unsolicited phone call or a pop-up window on a website…

Police ID 19-Year-Old Man Shot At Woodbridge Shopping Center A man shot multiple times at a Prince William County shopping center on Tuesday, June 14, has died, police said on Thursday.  David Madison Fowler III, of Woodbridge, and a friend were supposed to meet three men at Cheshire Station Plaza around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Prince William County police. During that meeting, one of those men opened fire and shot Fowler several times in the chest. They then sped away in a light-colored vehicle. Sencindiver pleaded guilty in March to robbing the M&T Bank on East Market Street, the newspaper said. Wegmans Says Goodbye To Plastic Bags At Virginia Stores Customers will soon no longer be able to get single-use plastic bags at Wegmans stores in Virginia, the company announced this week.  The grocery chain said stores in Leesburg, Dulles, Potomac, Lake Manassas, Virginia Beach, and Charlottesville would stop using the bags beginning on July 1. Body Found In James River Is Missing Virginia Woman: Police Medical officials say the body found in the James River last week is that of the missing 28-year-old woman who was one of two people who disappeared after going over a dam on Memorial Day.  The Virginia medical examiner announced Tuesday, June 14, that the body found on June 6 belongs to Sarah Erway, WRIC reported. The Chesterfield County woman was with a group of 12 friends who were swept over Bosher's Dam in Richmond while paddleboarding during the holiday weekend.
