A bear that attacked a 10-year-old Connecticut boy has been tested for rabies as a precaution. The bear attacked the boy in Litchfield County on Sunday, Oct. 16, in his grandparent's yard in Morris. Following the attack, which left the boy with non-life-threatening injuries including claw marks on his back and injuries to his leg, was euthanized shortly after the attack. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says the black bear was tested for rabies and the test has come back negative. A 10-year-old Connecticut boy who was injured by a black bear was playing in his grandparent's backyard when the male bear attacked, according to multiple reports. The attack took place in the Litchfield County town of Morris at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. A New York woman is mourning the loss of her beloved pet donkey after the animal was killed by a bear. Columbia County resident Laura-Ann Camissa told News10 ABC in Albany that the attack happened sometime overnight Monday, Oct. 3, at her home in the town of Claverack, where she frequently takes in unwanted donkeys. A homeowner in Middleton shot and killed a black bear that ate several of their livestock Friday morning, Sept. 30, state wildlife authorities said. The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. when the homeowner saw the 80-pound bear tearing its way through their chicken pen, the Massachusetts Environmental Police said. Police in Stafford Township issued an alert that a black bear had been sighted on the Jersey Shore. The black bear has been located in the wooded area on Route 9 in Manahawkin, police said early Wednesday afternoon, June 29. Authorities removed a black bear that climbed up a tree in a Capital District park Tuesday, May 31. The bear was first spotted wandering in Albany through Washington Park, near State Street and Sprague Place, at around 5:30 a.m., according to Albany Police spokesperson Steve Smith. A brand-new video shows two pigs fighting a black bear that crawled into their pen in Connecticut. WTNH, the ABC-TV affiliate in New Haven, published the video on Friday, March 18, which was sent from the owner of the pigs in the Litchfield County town of New Milford. The Ring camera footage shows the pigs fighting and chasing away a black bear after the bear crawled into their pen.
