Car Fire Jams Route 4 A car fire temporarily closed eastbound Route 4 in Englewood. Flames quickly engulfed the sedan in front of the BP station just after the Sterling Boulevard entrance to the highway, sending plumes of black smoke skyward, shortly after 2:30 p.m. Englewood firefighters doused the blaze while eastbound Route 4 remained closed at Webster Avenue.  Traffic quickly backed up toward Hackensack while rubberneckers slowed the flow on the westbound side. Police Search For Suspect Accused Of Using Stolen Credit Cards In Suffolk County Police are searching for a suspect accused of using stolen credit cards at a Long Island gas station. The Suffolk County Police Department said the credit cards were stolen from a pocketbook at a business located on Peconic Avenue in Medford on Thursday, Dec. 9. The credits were then used at about 12:30 p.m. that day at the BP, located at 2665 Route 112. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. 21-Year-Old Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash Near Long Island Gas Station A 21-year-old was killed in a two-vehicle collision near a Long Island gas station. The crash happened on Sunday, July 5 at around 11:45 a.m. in Great Neck. The victim was operating a motorcycle southbound on Cuttermill Road when he got into the collision with a 2004 Infinity, which was exiting the BP gas station, Nassau County Police said.  The Infinity, driven by a 66-year-old man, remained at the scene.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
