Artist And Award-Winning Novelist Barbara Hazard, Formerly Of Chappaqua, Has Died Barbara (Booth) Hazard, a former resident of Chappaqua, died on Oct. 25. in Boston, surrounded by family.  Born in 1931 in Fall River, MA, the daughter of Albert L. and Lillian (Holland) Booth, she was raised and educated in New England. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1953 and was briefly employed by Ginn & Company in Boston as a Technical Editor. She married Donald T. Hazard in 1954 and next worked as a Graphic Designer/Artist for a Concord, NH-based advertising firm. Originally trained as a musician, Mrs. Hazard also studied oil paint…

This Mariandale Sister Has Given Many Hope: Disaster Victims, The Homeless, And Now, The Earth Beekeeper, peacemaker, fracking protester, advocate for earthquake victims and the homeless. 72-year-old Bette Ann Jaster is not an ordinary woman dressed in a habit. You wouldn't be surprised to hear she is an advocate for Jesus but you would be to hear she is an advocate for the Earth as are the other sisters at Mariandale in Ossining. Sister Bette Ann Jaster says she sees community as a constellation. A lifetime of serving the sick and poor has led her back to spiritual roots.
