Pair Sought In Connection With Newark Handgun Recovery
Authorities in Newark are seeking help identifying a pair of men wanted in connection with the recovery of a firearm. Police recovered a handgun on the 200 block of Emmet Street Sept. 12, and are seeking the men captured on surveillance for questioning. One suspect is described as around 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, wearing a black and New Era baseball cap with a white logo. He also had on black, blue and purple sneakers and had a soft cast or ace bandage on his right wrist. Police in Newark are seeking the public's help in locating a man wanted in a carjacking. An arrest warrant was issued for Shakur I. Harris, who is accused in an incident that occurred Aug. 23 on the 200 block of S. 19th Street, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said. Harris is approximately 5 feet and 5 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He has tattoos on both arms and on the top of his right hand. Newark Police Helicopter Helps Nab Teens Driving Stolen Cars
Two teens driving a pair of stolen cars were arrested with help from the Newark Police Department's helicopter, authorities said Sunday. Officers in NPD1 spotted the Honda Accord and Nissan Altima driving erratically near Bergen Street and South Orange Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said. Then juveniles then abandoned the cars -- stolen out of Newark and Jersey City, respectively -- on Broome Street, Ambrose said. Authorities in Newark are seeking a man caught on surveillance tapes swiping an Amazon package off someone's porch. The man was seen walking up to the house on Carolina Avenue near Grove Terrace, taking the package and placing it in a plastic black bag around 11:30 last Thursday morning, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Authorities in Newark are seeking a pair of men wanted in connection with a package theft, along with a man reported missing. Lawrence Nesmith, 47, was last seen May 9 near 150 Bergen St., Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose said.
