Downed Tree Branch, Lines Cause Power Outage In Easton
While the millions brace for one of the strongest hurricanes to hit the East Coast in decades, some Fairfield County residents dealt with some issues of their own, as rain and wind toppled a tree branch onto a power line. A tree branch took out a primary power line in Easton in the area of Delaware Road near Asmara Way and Old Sport Hill Parkway late on Wednesday afternoon, leaving some Easton and other Fairfield County residents without power. Chris Gains Strength As It Treks Toward Northeast, Nears Hurricane Status
Tropical Storm Chris is slowly moving to the Northeast as it inches closer to hurricane status with maximum sustained winds increasing to 70 mph from 60 mph on Monday. The National Hurricane Center is warning that while Chris is not expected to directly impact land as it treks north, dangerous rip currents and rough surf will continue to impact coastal areas of the Carolinas, mid-Atlantic and the Northeast through week's end. Tropical Storm Chris Expected To Become Hurricane: Latest Path Projection
Tropical Storm Chris, situated off the Carolina Coast, is gaining strength and expected to become a hurricane later in the day Monday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. The storm, with maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour, is not expected to increase from Category 1 hurricane level.
