Home Fire Displaces Four In Area Four people were left homeless after a fire ripped through their Union Vale home, making it unliveable.  The Union Vale Fire Department received notice of the fire at the home on Route 82 around 11:48 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, the department said. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a  fully involved structure fire in the attic area on the second floor of the home and a second alarm was dispatched.  All occupants made it safely out of the home once the fire began, the department said. Tanker Fire Causes Route 22 Closure Route 22 is shut down in both directions Saturday night in the Town of Amenia between the Amenia Town Hall and the intersection of Route 343 following a tanker fire, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports just before 9:30 p.m. Traffic can still travel west on Route 44 towards Millbrook and east on Route 343 towards Connecticut. The road closure is due to the brakes on a loaded gasoline tanker catching fire and disabling the vehicle.  The tank has not been compromised and there has been no release of hazardous materials.  The Amenia and Wassaic Fire Departments extinguished the fire …

On Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30, there will be no through traffic permitted on Church Street between Manzi Drive and Manor Road as the Millbrook Highway Department performs emergency culvert repairs in the area. According to officials, motorists have been advised to use alternate routes during the scope of the project, which is expected to conclude before Wednesday, Oct. 31.
