An Orange County man who fled the country for years to avoid prosecution on rape charges has finally faced justice.
Dominic Mamaat, 46, of New Windsor, was sentenced on Wednesday, Feb. 4, to 20 years in state prison, followed by 20 years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to first-degree rape, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
As part of the sentence, Mamaat will also be required to register as a sex offender under New York’s Sex Offender Registration Act.
