2 People Exposed To Rabid Cow In Upstate NY
A rare case of people being exposed to a cow with rabies occurred in a hamlet in upstate New York. It happened late last week in Lee Center, located near the city of Rome in Oneida County. The cow was sent to a New York State Department of Health center for testing and the test results came back positive, the Oneida County Health Department said. Two people were exposed to the cow and have received post-exposure prophylaxis, the department said. Health officials in Harford County are cautioning area residents about an aggressive fox that has been making the rounds and has attacked at least one dog. The Harford County Health Department says that it has received multiple calls about the animal in Bel Air, specifically in the Barrington Community across from Patterson Mill Middle/High School. A raccoon found between a school and daycare in Prince George’s County Tuesday tested positive for rabies, police confirmed. Officers responded to a report of a raccoon “behaving strangely” near the 5200 block of 43rd Avenue around 4:40 p.m., Hyattsville Police said. The raccoon was between a school, which had just dismissed for the day, and a daycare, which was still open.
