Coast Guard Saves Two Girls, Two Men From Absecon Inlet In Separate Rescues
Four people were rescued by the Coast Guard in two separate incidents in Absecon Inlet, officials said. The U.S. Coast Guard Station Atlantic City responded to two rescues on Saturday, Sept. 21, the Coast Guard said in a news release. Brigantine police reported that two girls, 14 and 11 years old, were being swept out to the inlet on surfboards at around 11:47 a.m. Watchstanders issued a warning to boaters and a Coast Guard crew responded on a 29-foot boat. 4 Rescued After Sailboat Overturns On Long Island Sound In Hempstead Bay
Emergency responders from two counties teamed up to rescue several people after a sailboat overturned on the Long Island Sound. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 Marine 7 of the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit responded for reports of an overturned sailboat. With the assistance of the Westchester Police Department, all four occupants were removed from the water and the sail boat was towed to shore by Town of North Hempstead Bay Constable. The FDNY Marine Bureau was also at scene. There were no injuries reported.

Firefighters worked quickly on Saturday morning to extinguish a fire that broke out inside a Baltimore County apartment building, but not before at least a dozen residents and several pets were displaced by the blaze, officials say. A 46-year-old Pennsylvania man was rescued after he fell 25 feet from the roof of a building in Fairfield, NJ on Friday, Sept. 20, authorities said (scroll for video). Two missing North Jersey hikers were rescued in a five-hour mission early Thursday, Sept. 19, responders said. Two people were rescued from a sailboat caught in choppy waves at night off the coast of Brigantine, officials said. A 35-foot sailboat got stuck in shoals at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, the Brigantine firefighters union said in a Facebook post. The boat was sailing from Barnegat to Absecon Inlet. The New Jersey State Police Department has released video footage of an aerial rescue of a cliff-diver who suffered serious injuries in a West Milford accident. 20-Year-Old, Furry Friend Rescued From Patchogue Marina
A man and his dog have some officers to thank for rescuing them from a Long Island marina. The early-morning incident happened in Patchogue, at Mascot Dock and Marina, at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. Suffolk County Police said a 20-year-old Holbrook man was crabbing when his dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, jumped into the water. The man jumped in after her but was unable to exit the water. Fortunately for the pair, two Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers responded in their boat and pulled them to safety. Both man and dog were unharmed.

Injured Hiker Rescued From Park In Chappaqua
First responders were seen rushing to a park in Northern Westchester to help out an injured hiker stranded in the woods. The rescue happened on Friday, Aug. 24 around 4:15 p.m., when first responders learned a hiker was injured and stuck in the woods at the back of Gedney Park in Chappaqua, according to the Millwood Fire Department. Arriving crews brought a backboard and stokes to the hiker's location and safely took them out of the woods. The hiker was later loaded on an awaiting ambulance, the department added.

Six Partiers Rescued From Sinking Boat Along Schuylkill River: Coast Guard
Six partiers were rescued from a sinking 20-foot boat on the Schuylkill River in Southeast Philadelphia, authorities said. At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, first responders got a call from one of the boaters who said their vessel was taking on water at the Platt Bridge, the U.S. Coast Guard reported. The Philadelphia Fire Department's marine unit was able to pull alongside the boat and rescue its occupants, the Coast Guard said.

Sundown Swimmers At Unguarded Ocean Grove Beach Rescued
Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. Rescuers were called to a swimmer in distress near the pier at the Main Avenue beach at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, the ANSWER team said in a Facebook post. The report was quickly upgraded to three swimmers in distress. When emergency crews arrived, they saw the three swimmers screaming for help. Residents jumped from a second-story window to escape a fire in Lancaster on Tuesday, Aug. 27, authorities said. Two homes were involved in the fire on Woodward Street and were quickly extinguished by fire crews, Lancaster firefighters said on Facebook.
