Three former police officers violently assaulted people during arrests and covered up their actions for years, federal prosecutors announced on Friday, Nov. 14.
Former Mt. Carmel Borough Lt. David Donkockik, 53, of Catawissa; former Patrol Officer Jonathan McHugh, 36, of Tamaqua; and former Patrol Officer Kyle Schauer, 36, of Catawissa, were each sentenced in connection with the civil-rights conspiracy, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

An 18-year-old Trenton man was arrested and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old on Halloween, authorities said.
Jemair Austin, 18, of Trenton, was taken into custody Friday morning by the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey said.

A jury has found a 32-year-old man guilty of brutally attacking and murdering an on-duty Department of Social Services caseworker in Westchester last year, prosecutors announced.
Following a multi-week trial, Hasseem Jenkins of Peekskill was convicted of murder in the second degree, manslaughter in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, burglary in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Man Gunned Down Outside Waterbury Bodega Just Days Before 30th Birthday
A 29-year-old man has been identified as the person shot and killed outside a neighborhood bodega in Waterbury earlier this week. He would have turned 30 on Friday.
Frank Garay, of Hartford, was shot around 7:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, on Charles Street, Waterbury police said.
Police are still searching for the shooter.
