Increased State Aid Could Lead To Full Day Kindergarten At North Rockland HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Could full-day kindergarten be finally coming to North Rockland? Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposed budget would increase state aid to districts who adopt full-day kindergarten. The North Rockland school district is one of five districts in the state that does not offer full-day kindergarten. Cuomo's proposal would offer funding the first year and then the state would cover half the costs in the second year. Man Charged With Felony DWI Following Crash In Yorktown A 38-year-old Cortlandt Manor man was charged with felony DWI after a two-car accident Saturday afternoon at Old Crompond Road and Pine Grove Court. Giovanni Loaiza was charged with a felony because he had a prior driving while intoxicated conviction in the last 10 years. He was also charged with driving with a revoked license, a Class E felony and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test. Loaiza was transported to Westchester County Jail and is due back in court on Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.

Mahopac Resident Named New Schools Superintendent Anthony DiCarlo is the new man in charge of Mahopac's public schools. DiCarlo, who lives in Mahopac, was given a five-year contract by the Mahopac Board of Education at Thursday's meeting to be the district's new superintendent. DiCarlo, who serves as principal of Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle, starts on Feb. 26.
