Falco, a 4-year-old police dog, has spent much of his life protecting the good folks of Brewster.
And now the community is rallying to return the favor.
The K-9 was diagnosed in October with lymphoma, which, in dogs, is a common cancer of the lymphocytes, or white blood cells. At first, it appeared that he only had weeks to live, but now his prognosis is encouraging.

Three Charged In Route 22 DWI Checkpoint In Dutchess
Three people are facing charges after being arrested at a sobriety checkpoint in Dutchess County this past weekend.
According to state troopers who were manning the Saturday, March 25, checkpoint on Route 22 in Pawling, two of the people arrested were accused of driving while intoxicated and the third, of having marijuana.
Michael Conway, 50, of Wingdale in Dutchess County, refused to take a breath test and was hit with a DWI charge, police said.
Brenden Clark, 20, of Brewster in Putnam County, did provide a breath sample. He was charged with DWI as well after the test showed he had a bloo…

Rockland Has Lowest Jobless Rate Among Seven Counties In Hudson Valley
NEW CITY, N.Y. – At 4.3 percent, Rockland's is the lowest unemployment rate in the Hudson Valley, according to the latest figures released Thursday by County Executive Ed Day.
According to the state Department of Labor stats, that’s 25 percent less than it was in 2014.
The national unemployment rate was, as of January, 4.8 percent.
The other Hudson Valley counties' numbers Day cited were: Putnam, 4.4 percent; Dutchess, 4.5 percent; Orange, 4.5 percent; Westchester, 4.5 percent; Ulster, 5.0 percent; and Sullivan, 5.3 percent.
