Tappan Zee Bridge Construction Will Be Suspended Over New Year's Weekend Construction on the new Tappan Zee Bridge will be suspended over the New Year’s weekend to help holiday travelers get where they’re going, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The move means all lanes will remain open from 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. Services Set In Mount Vernon For Son Of State Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Services for the late son of state Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow have been set for this week in Mount Vernon, the family announced Wednesday. Pretlow said that James Gary Pretlow II had died on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in his home in Johns Creek, Ga. He was 42. Pretlow Sr., D-Mount Vernon, represents the 89th District, which also includes Yonkers. The younger Pretlow was, his father said, a “much-loved father and son.” He was born on Aug. 21, 1974, at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York City to James Gary Pretlow and Yukiko E. Hubbard-Pretlow. Happy To Be Home: Lost Dogs Reunited With Owners In Kent KENT, N.Y. -- Two little lost doggies have been happily reunited with their owners, reports Kent animal control warden Mary Madsen. The brown male and black female were found wandering around East Croton Drive and Harrison Road in Lake Carmel, said Madsen, who posted their pictures on Facebook. The mother of the man who owned the pooches spotted Madsen’s post and contacted her son.
