Fireplace Ashes Blamed For Trumbull Brush Firee TRUMBULL, CONN. – A shed at a residence on Wilson Avenue in Trumbull was damaged by the flames from a brush fire Monday morning. Crews from the Long Hill Fire Department, Trumbull Center Fire Department and Nichols Fire Department were all on the scene. To see a short video of firefighting efforts, click here. According to Dave DeLibro, public information officer for the Trumbull Volunteer Fire Department, the fire was sparked by fireplace ashes that had been discarded by the homeowner. A petition, being circulated online via MoveOn.org, a progressive public policy advocacy group, has garnered more than 300 signatures from pro-ferry folks. Stony Point Man Charged With Harassment STONY POINT, N.Y. – A Stony Point man wanted on second-degree harassment charges has been arrested. A bench warrant for Steven Marty, 25, was issued after he failed to show up in Haverstraw Justice Court to answer the charges, police said. He was arrested in Stony Point on Monday, Nov. 7, and turned over to authorities in Haverstraw, police said. No further information on the case could be learned Friday.

Norwalk Knights of Columbus Help Convalescent Home Prepare For Winter NORWALK, Conn. -- The residents of the Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk will be a little cozier this winter thanks to the efforts of some local volunteers. Last month, members of the Knights of Columbus St. Matthew Council 14360 and Sean Mitchell, a student at Fairfield’s Notre Dame Catholic High School, winterized all the windows at the home. “These residents need comfort during these Connecticut winters, so we lent a helping hand to keep them warm and keep the heating bills down,” said Grand Knight Scott Criscuolo.
