Full Closure Scheduled On Long Island Expressway Scheduled roadwork on the Long Island Expressway could spell delays for drivers this week. The eastbound lanes of I-495 are set to close from 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 to 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, near Commack Road in the Town of Huntington, according to the Department of Transportation. In the meantime, traffic will be detoured onto the South Service Road. Transportation officials said the closure will allow road crews to complete scheduled bridge work. Rensselaer County resident Joseph Celeone, age 40, of Troy, was arrested Monday, Feb. 6, for grand larceny and criminal impersonation, according to the Watervliet Police Department in Albany County. Varene Brisard, age 74, was last seen at around 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 in the hamlet of Baywood, on Nugent Avenue, according to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. Man Dies In Wrong-Way Crash On Long Island Highway A 73-year-old man was killed in a wrong-way crash on a Long Island highway late Monday night, Feb. 6. Emergency crews in Islip were called just after 10:30 p.m. with reports of a crash on the southbound Southern/Heckscher State Parkway between exits 44 and 45, according to State Police. A preliminary investigation found that Roy Nelson, of Holbrook, was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when he struck a Tesla head on.
