Traffic Stop In Capital Region Leads To Recovery Of Stolen Trailer, Police Say A Capital Region man is facing charges after he was allegedly busted hauling a stolen trailer.  State Police in Saratoga County stopped the man's vehicle for an equipment violation Monday, Oct. 17, as it was hauling a trailer in the Town of Halfmoon, on Crescent Road. While talking with the 64-year-old driver, Fred Weinkauff, of Troy, troopers determined that the trailer had previously been reported stolen from Warren County in February 2019, police said. Discriminated Against Mentally Ill By Barring Patients From Adult Homes: Judge Adult care facilities in New York can no longer bar individuals suffering from serious mental illness, a judge has ruled. In her ruling Thursday, Oct. 6, Supreme Court Justice Gretchen Walsh said State Department of Health (DOH) regulations prohibiting certain adult homes from admitting those with serious mental illness discriminate against the mentally ill and violate the federal Fair Housing Act. Shanita Thomas, of Albany, was shot and killed on Saturday Jan. 30, 2021 at a business near Central Avenue and Robin Street, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. Fernando Cooper, age 21, of Ronkonkoma, is charged with conspiring to distribute more than 40 grams of fentanyl in Suffolk County, according to an indictment unsealed in federal court in Central Islip.
