Shooting Outside Capital District Bar Leaves Two Hospitalized Police are asking for the public’s help after a shooting outside of a Capital District bar sent two people to the hospital. Police were called just after 2 a.m. Friday, July 15, with reports of shots fired in Schenectady at the Saw Mill Tavern on South Avenue. When Schenectady PD officers arrived, they found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The man had been shot in the leg and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Trapped Elderly Woman Rescued After Tree Falls On Home During Severe Storm In Capital District An elderly woman from the Capital District has a whole host of public agencies to thank for rescuing her after a downed tree trapped her inside her home during a storm. Washington County resident Penelope Perry, age 75, was at her Fort Edward home on North River Road at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, when severe winds sent a large tree crashing through her roof. CT Doctor Admits To Getting Kickbacks In Exchange For Ordering Unnecessary Procedures A Connecticut eye doctor was paid handsomely from a five-year fraudulent medical billing scheme that netted millions of dollars. Hartford County resident Donald Salzberg, age 67, of Avon, pleaded guilty Thursday, July 14, to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to receive kickbacks in federal court in Boston. Capital District Couple Tied Dog To Tree In Woods, Abandoned Him, Police Say A couple from the Capital District has been criminally charged after police said they tied their one-year-old dog to a tree in the woods and then abandoned him. Saratoga County residents Noah Center, age 24, and Ashleigh Allen, age 22, both of Corinth, were arrested Thursday, July 14, on multiple charges stemming from the incident. Woman Busted On Thruway With BAC Over Three Times Legal Limit, Police Say A 37-year-old woman was arrested after she was allegedly busted for drunk driving on the New York State Thruway, authorities said. Troopers in Ulster County stopped the woman’s car just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in the town of New Paltz for multiple vehicle and traffic violations, according to New York State Police.
