Fire Breaks Out At Home Attached To Strip Mall In Fairfield County A house attached to the rear of a strip mall was heavily damaged during an early-morning fire in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out at 2 a.m., Monday, Feb. 28 at 172 Main St., in Norwalk. Responding firefighters encountered heavy smoke pushing from the attic of the two-story home located in the rear of the strip mall on the corner of Main and Center Avenue, said Deputy Chief Edward Prescott of the Norwalk Fire Department. Firefighters quickly advanced a hose line to the attic, ventilated the roof, and extinguish a mattress fire that had extended to the contents of the room, he said. …

Man Armed With Knife Critically Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting In Hudson Valley An investigation is underway by state police after a man allegedly armed with a knife was critically injured after being shot by an officer at a Hudson Valley apartment complex. It happened in Dutchess County at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, at The Views at Rocky Glenn in the town of Fishkill. Suspected Fentanyl Overdoses Lead To Deaths Of Two Prisoners In Connecticut Two Connecticut inmates in the same cell in jail died in a case of suspected fentanyl overdoses, prison officials said. The Connecticut Department of Correction said the two inmates died at the New Haven Correctional Center on Thursday, Feb. 24. According to correction officials, on Thursday, a correctional officer was conducting a routine tour and observed two inmates, within the same cell, unresponsive. CT Man Admits Defrauding His Grandparents Of $679K A Connecticut man has pleaded guilty in federal court to stealing some $679,000 from his grandparents. Leonard Boyle, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Hartford County resident Douglas Senerth, age 32 of South Windsor, plead guilty to the fraud on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Long Island Man Attacks Apartment House Employee With Knife, Police Say A Long Island man was arrested for assault after he allegedly attacked employees of an apartment complex with a knife. Ross Krieger, age 22, of Southold, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 24, following the assault at 9625 Main Bayview Road in Southold. Fairfield County 15-Year-Old Charged With Shooting Another Teen, Police Say A 15-year-old from Fairfield County has been charged with shooting another teen during a dispute. The incident took place on Sunday, Feb. 13, when officers responded to a 911 call of someone shot in the rear of commercial property on Hope Street in Stamford. Hudson Valley Trio Facing Gang Assault Charges After Snowmobile Dispute Three area men are facing gang assault charges following a dispute over a snowmobile last month. Suffolk County Man Charged For Valentine's Day Liquor Store Robbery A Long Island man has been charged with the robbery of a liquor store that left an employee injured on Valentine's Day. Donte Harrell, age 23, of Patchogue, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 23, for the incident which took place on Friday, Feb. 14 at Suffolk Wines and Liquor in Selden. Harrell was arrested for allegedly going into the store and stealing two bottles of liquor around 1:30 p.m., said the Suffolk County Police. Suffolk County Man Killed In Crash With Mack Truck A man was killed in a crash with a Mack truck on a busy Long Island roadway. Robert Favichia, age 57, of Copiague was killed around 5:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 25 in Lindenhurst. Favichia was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup truck eastbound on Montauk Highway when his vehicle struck a 2009 Mack truck that was backing out of an alley in front of 51 Montauk Highway, according to Suffolk County Police. Suspect Throws Brick Through State Police Barracks In Northern Westchester Despite a full-out search including helicopters, a suspect who threw a brick through the window of a state police barracks in the Hudson Valley managed to escape. The incident took place on Thursday, Feb. 24 Northern Westchester at the State Police Somers Barracks, located at 295 Route 100 during the evening hours.
