CASE: Philly Woman Found Strangled Off I-81 In Schuylkill County
Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the murder of Caryn Fortino. Fortino, 38, was found dead in a wooded area off of Interstate 81 in Delano Township on May 23, 2003. She had been strangled, according to troopers. Authorities said Fortino was from the Philadelphia area and was last in contact with loved ones that February. A 2003 report from the Allentown Morning Call said her last known address was in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, but that she had moved back to Philly before her death. Crash Shuts Down I-81 On-Ramp In Franklin County
A multi-vehicle accident shut down an on-ramp to Interstate 81 in Franklin County on Friday morning, May 17, according to PennDOT. Officials said it happened on the PA 696 ramp to I-81's southbound lanes near Exit 24 in Southampton Township. The ramp was still closed as of 9:30 a.m. It's not yet clear if anyone was hurt.

Two multiple-vehicle crashes — one involving a military vehicle — led to lane restrictions and delays along Interstate 81 in Central Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon. The first crash, which involved a military vehicle, happened on I-81 northbound just .6 miles north of Exit 65: US 11/15 South and North to Enola/Maryville at 2:35 p.m. on April 19, according to PennDOT's 511PA. Tractor-Trailer Rollover Crash On I-81 In Lebanon County Clears: PennDOT
A tractor-trailer crash caused miles of delays on Interstate 81, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials told Daily Voice on Tuesday, April 2. The tractor-trailer rolled over after it crashed at mile marker 93.5 on I-81 northbound at 1 p.m. on April 2, PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler explained. Traffic was diverted starting at Exit 90: PA 72 - LEBANON and all lanes were closed through Exit 100: PA 443 - PINE GROVE. There is no word from the scene about any injuries, and it is unknown what was in the trailer. The roadway reopened at 5 p.m.

One Dead, One Seriously Hurt In I-81 Crash
One person died in a two-car crash Monday, April 1 on Interstate 81 in Frederick County, police said. It happened just before 9 p.m. at mile marker 316 on the southbound side, according to Virginia State Police. One person died and another was hospitalized with serious injuries. Funeral details and a statement from the family have been released after five women returning from Umrah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia were killed on Interstate 81 on Tuesday evening, Jan. 16. The women "were on their way back home from the Dulles airport," their family told Daily Voice.
