Emergency crews in Rocky Point were called at around 9:30 p.m. Monday night, Jan. 30, with reports that a car had struck a pedestrian on Route 25A east of Rocky Point Road, according to Suffolk County Police. Investigators said Sharif Murray, of Rocky Point, was struck by a Subaru Forester as he attempted to cross Route 25A. Murray was pronounced dead at the scene. Would-Be Child Rapist Busted By Undercover Agents In Capital Region, Police Say A 63-year-old man from the region is facing charges after allegedly attempting to meet a child for sex.  Rensselaer County resident Hadj Ounis, of Troy, was arrested on multiple sex charges Monday, Jan. 30, following an investigation by New York State Police. Members of the agency’s Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force determined that Ounis made arrangements and traveled to meet who he believed was a 14-year-old for sex, according to police. Elevated Lead Levels Found In Drinking Water In Capital Region Officials are warning of elevated levels of lead that were found in drinking water in the region.
