A major retailer primarily located in malls and headquartered in Pennsylvania is set to close all 543 of its stores following its third Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Closures for all rue21 locations are expected to be completed within the next two months with going-out-of-business sales coming soon. The company, headquartered in Pennsylvania outside Pittsburgh, had first filed for bankruptcy in 2003, and then for a second time in 2017, when it closed around 400 stores. The 73-year-old woman killed in an explosion at a New Jersey manufacturing plant is being remembered in her obituary as a longtime employee, avid pool player, and great-grandmother. Eileen, of South River, was killed on Wednesday, May 1, at the site of the Superior Signal explosion in Old Bridge, as previously reported by Daily Voice. 89-Year-Old Man Dies Days After Clothes Catch Fire Burning Brush At His PA Home: Coroner
An 89-year-old Pennsylvania man died of serious burns suffered while burning brush at his home last month, officials said. Leo C. Pavelco, of Slatington, was burning brush at his home when his clothing caught fire around 5 p.m. April 22, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said. Pavelco was hospitalized with burns covering 30.5% of his body, and died on May 3, just after 8 p.m., at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Buglio said.

Police Wrestle Loose Pig In Quiet South Jersey Neighborhood
Friday, May 3 wasn't exactly an ordinary day for police in Washington Township. Officers Frank Cicalese and Victor Rossi spent their afternoon wrangling a 200-pound pig who had gotten loose. The guy was found at the Corner of Egg Harbor and County House Road in traffic, "located in the quiet, serene neighborhood of Heatherwood," police said in a social media post. Rossi and Cicalese tackled the pig and then safely tied him up. According to 6abc, the owners, who live about a mile down the road, later claimed him and said he'd escaped his stall. His name? Pumba.

After nearly half a century, the Crystal City Underground mall will be closing. A retired Newark police officer died and another victim was severely burned in a South River home explosion, officials tell Daily Voice. Kevin Gilbert, a 26-year veteran of the Newark Police Department, died in the mysterious explosion around 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, South River Mayor Peter Guindi tells Daily Voice.
