She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Levittown Man Accused Of Choking 10-Year-Old, Hitting Child's Mother A Long Island man was charged with assault after allegedly choking a 10-year-old boy and hitting his mother. The incident took place in Jericho on Sunday, June 27. According to detectives, a witness, and the mother of an 11-year-old (10 at the time of the incident) boy, came to the Second Precinct Station House in Woodbury to report an incident that occurred in her home in June of 2021. Police Ask Public's Help After New 2-Alarm Fire Is 3rd Blaze In Hours In Stamford Police in Fairfield County are asking the public for help identifying a man they believe may be involved in two fires. Sgt. Sean Scanlan, of the Stamford Police, said the department is working to identify the man who was caught on surveillance near two fires on Thursday, Sept. 29. A third fire on West Avenue around 11 a.m. Thursday is not believed to be a suspected arson, police said. Man Killed, 5-Year-Old Injured In Hudson Valley Shooting, Police Say A man was killed and a 5-year-old riding his bike was injured during a shooting in the Hudson Valley. The shooting took place in Orange County around 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29 in the city of Newburgh. The victims were found when Newburgh police officers on patrol heard gunfire in the area of Washington Street and Clark Street, said City of Newburgh Police Chief Anthony Geraci. Suspect Caught After Beloved EMT Killed In Random Attack In NYC A 34-year-old man has been charged in the brutal stabbing death of a beloved New York City Fire Department EMT from Long Island. Lt. Alison Russo-Elling, age 61, of Huntington Station, was stabbed and killed around 2:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, while working at EMS Station 49 in Queens. Gene Lepre, age 84, was killed around 7:20 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28 in Stamford in the area of Courtland Avenue near the junction with Seaton Road. According to Sgt. Woman Hit By Car In White Plains Critically Injured, Police Say A 60-year-old woman was critically injured after being hit by a car in Westchester. The crash took place in White Plains around 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28 near the intersection of Bloomingdale Road and Maple Avenue. Firefighter Injured After Blaze Breaks Out At Home In Stamford A firefighter was injured and a family of five displaced during a large house fire in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out in Stamford around 5 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29 on Fairfield Avenue on the city's west side. ID Released For Woman Struck, Killed By Train In Rye Metro-North officials have identified the woman struck by a New Haven Line train in Westchester. Aurelia Franchitti, age 21, of Woodside, in Queens, was fatally struck after stepping in front of an eastbound train at Rye Station around 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, officials said. 1 Killed, 3 Injured In Crash Between Car, Minibus On Long Island, Police Say A 21-year-old woman was killed and three were people injured, including a student, during a crash between a car and a minibus on Long Island. The crash took place in North Amityville around 8 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29 on Albany Avenue.
