Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Car On Long Island
A Long Island man was seriously injured after being struck by a car while walking along a roadway.
The incident took in Port Jefferson Station around 8:40 p.m., Tuesday, April 27.
Mitchell Leventhal, age 64, of Port Jefferson Station, was walking in the roadway of Route 112, north of Jefferson Avenue when he was struck by a northbound 2004 Lexus ES 330, said the Suffolk County Police.
Leventhal was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

40-Year-Old Killed In Head-On Hudson Valley Crash
A man from the region was killed in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer.
The crash took place in Ulster County in Kingston on Route 28 around 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 26.
An investigation revealed that a 2006 Subaru Legacy, driven by Ulster County resident Tramayne Holmes, age 40, of the hamlet of Milton, was traveling eastbound on Route 28 when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed over into the westbound lane, and struck a 2022 Peterbilt tractor-trailer head-on, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Holmes was pronounced dead at the scene, Nevel said.

Long Island Man Nabbed For Assault After Injuring Police Officer During Arrest, Cops Say
A Long Island man has been charged with assault after allegedly injuring a police officer who was attempting to arrest him.
The incident took place in Nassau County, in Manorhaven, around 3 a.m., Thursday, April 21 when officers responded to a 911 call for loud explosions.
Responding officers located a man, later iArgelis Alvayero, age 31, of Manorhaven, who was setting off fireworks.
As officers approached, Alvayero refused to comply with their verbal commands and attempted to reach into his vehicle, Nassau County police said.
