Support Pours In For Family Of Suffolk County Mother Killed In House Fire Support is pouring for a Long Island infant who was injured during a house fire that killed his mother and seriously injured his father. A GoFundMe account has been set up for 10-month-old Leo Ortner who was injured during the fire just after midnight on Friday, Feb. 18, at the family's East Setauket home. According to the Suffolk County police, during the fire that took place at 360 Old Town Road, Leo's father, Stephen Ortner was able to escape through a second-floor window onto a roof ledge and hand Leo to a passerby below, who then handed the child to rescuers. Woman Killed After Vehicle Crashes Into CT Residence A Connecticut woman was killed after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a mobile home. The incident took place in New London County just before 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, in Groton. According to Captain Gregory McCarthy, of the Groton Police, when officers arrived on the scene of the crash at 301 Buddington Road, they found a 2007 Toyota Avalon had hit a mobile home in the Eastwood Mobile Home Park with an unresponsive woman inside the car. Man Charged With Traveling To Fairfield County To Have Sex With Minor, Police Say A Connecticut man was nabbed in a sting for allegedly setting up a meeting to have sex with a minor in Fairfield County. Hartford County resident Ray Caceres, age 38, of Rocky Hill, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 17, by Greenwich Police. According to Lt. Sex Offender Wanted In Two States Nabbed At Mall In Region, Police Say A sex offender wanted in two states was nabbed after police responded to a Hudson Valley mall for a man acting "disorderly." Eldon Ray Groh, age 49, of Missouri, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 15, when officers responded to Mountain Mall in Sullivan County at 321 East Broadway in the village of Monticello. According to Lt. Alert Issued For CT Woman Wanted On Nine Warrants Totaling $25K In Bonds Know her? Police in one Connecticut town have issued an alert asking the public for help locating a woman who is wanted on nine warrants. The Enfield Police said on Wednesday, Feb. 9, that Nicolette Williams, of Hartford County, currently has nine warrants for her arrest totaling $25,000 in bonds. Fairfield County Man Charged For Failing To Plant Trees, Police Say A Fairfield County man has been arrested for allegedly taking $13,000 to buy and plant trees he never bought or planted. Joseph Esposito Jr. age 53, of Redding, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 15 by Westport Police and charged with larceny. According to Lieutenant David Wolf, of the Westport Police, Esposito was arrested after the department received a complaint that he had taken $13,000 in November 2021 from a Westport resident to buy and plant trees. Covid-19: Northern Westchester Man Charged With Possessing Forged Vaccine Card A Northern Westchester man has been charged for allegedly giving a fake COVID-19 vaccination card to his employers. Andre Davis, age 53, of Peekskill, was arrested on Tuesday, August 15, for the incident which took place in February in Yorktown. Four Charged After Stolen Handgun Discovered During Traffic Stop In Area, Police Say Three juveniles and an 18-year-old man were arrested during a traffic stop by state police when a loaded gun and a BB gun were found in a 2021 Nissan pick-up truck. The incident took place around 3 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 12 when state police stopped the vehicle in Orange County on Grand Avenue in Middletown. Out-Of-State Man Sentenced For Traveling To CT To Have Sex With Minor An out-of-state man was sentenced to more than three years in prison for traveling to Connecticut to attempt to have sex with a minor.
