Fairfield County Man Seriously Injured In Crash, State Police Say A Fairfield County man was seriously injured in a crash after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median, and hit two cars driving in the opposite direction. Connecticut State Police said the crash took place in New Haven County around 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16 in Seymour. Fire Damages New Construction At Hospital In Manhasset, Police Say A new surgical wing under construction at a Long Island hospital caught fire overnight causing significant damage. The fire started in Nassau County around 1 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the addition to North Shore Manhasset Hospital adjacent to the hospital in Manhasset. According to the Nassau County Police, arriving police and firefighters found an active fire in the new construction zone. Hudson Valley Man Charged With Murder Of 28-Year-Old, Police Say Police have arrested a local man for a homicide that took place more than two years ago in the Hudson Valley. Rockland County resident Jack Ramirez, age 20, of Spring Valley, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 16, in connection with the killing of a 28-year-old area man. According to the Spring Valley Police, Ramirez was nabbed following a two-year investigation into the killing on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, of Juvenson Paul who was found shot dead in a car. One Killed, Several Injured In Head-On Crash In Fairfield County One person was killed and several others injured during a four-vehicle crash in Fairfield County. It happened around 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15 in the area of 47 Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury. According to Det. Lt. Mark Willams, of the Danbury Police, a preliminary investigation shows that a 2019 Nissan Rogue traveling southbound crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. Discount Supermarket Chain To Open New Location In Hudson Valley A popular discount supermarket chain is coming to the Hudson Valley. The new market, Lidl (pronounced Lee-dull), which could open by the end of the year in Rockland County has received Planning Board approval from Orangetown to build in the Tappan Plaza, said Orangetown Supervisor Teresas Kenny. Officers Rescue Two CT Women From Burning House, Police Say Two Connecticut women were rescued from their burning home as flames surrounded them. The fire took place around 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, in New Haven County at a home on Spring Street in Ansonia. According to Lieutenant Patrick Lynch, of the Ansonia Police Department, the department received a call from a resident on Spring Street reporting her house was on fire and she was trapped. Officer Struck By Vehicle On Massachusetts Roadway A large search is underway by Massachusetts State Police after a police officer was hit by a car while attempting to arrest a suspect. The incident happened in Worcester County around 10:30 a.m. on Mechanic Street in Fitchburg. According to the state police, a local police officer who is part of an MSP task force was injured after being struck by a vehicle. West Babylon Man Shot, Killed Aboard Lirr Train In Suffolk County, Police Say A Long Island man was shot and killed while onboard a train allegedly by a person he was traveling with. The Suffolk County Police homicide squad and MTA Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of Yusef Staine, age 20, of West Babylon, at the Ronkonkoma train station around 1:45 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16. According to police, Staine was shot by a man he appeared to be traveling with while he was on board a westbound train parked at the Ronkonkoma Station. 33-Year-Old Worker Who Died At Legoland Remembered As Loving Father, Good Friend A LEGOLAND worker who died while at work earlier this month is being remembered for being a loving father and a good friend. Orange County resident Shane Roy Gunser, age 33, of Washingtonville, died on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the theme park while working as a chief hotel maintenance engineer at the park in Goshen. Multiple State Agencies Sent To Scene Of Rockville Centre Tanker Explosion, Hochul Says Following a gasoline tanker crash and explosion on Long Island, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has directed multiple state agencies to the area to help with environmental issues caused by the crash. The crash and following fire and large fuel spill in Nassau County took place around 1 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, when the driver of the tanker lost control and slammed into a commercial building on the Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.
