Sears' Last Full-Service Store In Hudson Valley To Close The last full-service Sears store in the Hudson Valley has announced it will be closing next month after 43 years of serving the community. The Orange County store, located in the Newburgh Mall, announced on Facebook on Aug. 31 that it would be closing its store on Sunday, Oct. 16. "It's with a heavy heart to be announcing the Sears Store at the Newburgh Mall is closing its doors on October 16th. Town Of Fairfield Man Ordered To Pay Settlement After Tirade At Smoothie Shop A Fairfield County man who was sued by a smoothie job worker for throwing a drink at them in a tirade over the shop adding peanuts to a drink has been ordered to pay the employee. The incident took place on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Robeks Smoothie Shop in Fairfield when James Iannazzo became upset and began throwing things when his son was hospitalized for a nut allergy after peanuts were added to his drink. Know Him? Man Wanted For Long Island Burglary Police on Long Island are asking the public for help identifying a man wanted in connection with an alleged burglary. Police say it occurred in Inwood around 1:55 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the ARI Shipping Corporation offices at 80 Sheridan Blvd. According to detectives, the unknown man walked through an open gate and into the offices of the business. New Canaan Mom Accused Of Leaving Child Home Alone A Fairfield County mother was arrested after allegedly leaving her 8-year-old home alone after the child cut their head and was bleeding. Christina Vitale, age 45, of New Canaan turned herself in to police on Wednesday, Aug. 31, on charges of risk of injury to a child for the incident which took place on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Massive Hudson Valley Wildfire Believed To Be Ignited By Lightning Strike Spreads To 150 Acres Gov. Kathy Hochul has deployed the New York Army and Air National Guards to help extinguish a Hudson Valley wildfire at a state park that has grown from 30 acres to between 130 and 150 acres. Located in Ulster County, the fire, known as the Napanoch Point Fire in the Minnewaska State Park in Ellenville, was believed to have started on Saturday, Aug. 27 by a lightning strike. Fairfield County Man Threatens To Shoot Security Staff At Mall In Region, Police Say An alleged drunk Fairfield County man was arrested after threatening to shoot security guards at a popular Connecticut mall. Man Killed After Accidentally Falling Off Bridge In Hudson Valley A man was killed after he accidentally fell off a bridge in the Hudson Valley after his car broke down and he was attempting to get to safety. Croton PD Investigating Separate Scams In Matter Of Days Police in Northern Westchester are investigating three scams that came to the department's attention within a matter of days.
