Long Island Man Busted For Stealing Some $30K From Business, Police Say
A Long Island man has been charged with robbery for allegedly breaking into a business and stealing more than $30,000.
Shane S. Filasky, age 46, of East Hampton, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 28, said Lt. Gregory Schaefer, of the Southampton Police.
According to Schaefer, Filasky was arrested following an investigation into a robbery at Montoya Communicdtaion in East Hampton on Wednesday, Jan. 26, in which $30,8000 was stolen.
Filasky was arrested after he was released by the Suffolk County Police where he had been arrested on drug charges.

Fairfield County Man Sentenced For Racketeering, Witness Tampering
A Fairfield County gang member has been sentenced to more than 24 years in prison for racketeering and witness tampering.
Shakale Brantley, also known as “Charlie Wilson,” “Kellz,” and “Man Man,” age 22, of Bridgeport, was sentenced Wednesday, Jan. 26, said Leonard Boyle, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, the FBI, ATF, DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, and Bridgeport Police have been investigating multiple Bridgeport-based gangs whose members are involved in narcotics trafficking, murder, and other acts of violence.

1-4 Magnitude Earthquake Startles Some Fairfield County Residents
If you felt a jolt, you weren't imagining things.
The mild, shaking jolt in Connecticut that startled some in Fairfield County, was in fact a mild earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS, the organization responsible for earthquake tracking around the country, said the 1.4-magnitude quake took place at 12:38 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 in Greenwich, two kilometers north-northwest of the neighborhood of Cos Cob.
They reported the quake was felt in Cos Cob, Greenwich, Old Greenwich, and Riverside.

LI Man Begs For Beloved Dog To Be Returned Following Devastating Fire
A Long Island man is begging for his fiancé's dog to be returned after a devasting fire left her fighting for her life.
The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, at a home on Manhasset Trail in Ridge, said the Suffolk County Police.
During the fire, one of the residents, Patricia Slawinski, suffered burns to 40 percent of her body and remains in intensive care fighting for her life, said Lin Richburg.
Two cats were able to escape, and one perished. The dog, a Labradane named Jasmine, disappeared and hasn't been seen since the fire.
