Broken Fan Temporarily Closes Red Robin In Town Of Poughkeepsie  It's been a long two days for burger lovers. The Red Robin on Route 9 in the Town of Poughkeepsie was closed Sunday and Monday after an exhaust fan malfunctioned. The burger chain expects to reopen on Tuesday. The fan started malfunctioning Sunday afternoon, which caused smoke to build up in the kitchen and the restaurant to be shut down, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

State Increases Fines For Hunting Deer Out Of Season Before trying to bag a deer, New Yorkers should make sure they are in season- or it will be costly. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Wednesday that will increase the fines of killing deer, bear, moose, and elk out of season to a minimum of $500 and a maximum of $3,000.  The bill takes effect in 120 days.  Hunters are also banned from shining spotlights onto deer, causing them to freeze and making them easier to kill. Repeat offenders are subject to increased penalties.

Two Lakeland Field Hockey Players Sign Letters Of Intent To Play In College Two members of Lakeland High School's championship field hockey team will be playing in college next year.Caroline Cahill and Kelsey McCrudden recently signed letters of intent to play at James Madison University in Virginia and the University of Albany, respectively. The two starred on the field hockey team, which recently celebrated an undefeated season and captured its 9th straight title. McCrudden and Cahill both earned All-Tournament honors.  The field hockey team has not lost to a New York State team since 2008.
